Came to visit friends every now and then and always enjoyed myself a nice cup of coffee from here. Plus, I did enjoy some of the wacky flavors and drinks they had to offer. Great place to study alone or with a small group as well.
Classic college-neighborhood coffee joint. The coffee didn't strike me as anything special, though it's sound and I didn't sample much. The food looks better than many coffee shops. What makes this place better is the funky architecture, with little alcoves and two-table rooms, and the front porch. Worth a stop, though do know it might be quite crowded with SU students at peak times. You might need to scope out a place to sit before ordering, and that might mean going outside to a public park bench, an issue in the winter.
Recess opened around the time i left for college, it's one of the first places i setup when i come back to town for over a decade now. It's been great to watch the leave grow and expand, without forgetting that people just want a chill place to drink coffee and eat the best vegan chocolate chip cookies sold on the eat coast (I've researched).
The Wi-Fi password is on the counter where you pick up your food/coffee.
Basically, whenever i move to a new city, i search for a coffee shop just like recess... they're just never as good.
People who drink coffee at Recess Coffee are living the Wescott Neighborhood dream. What could be better than living close to a world class University? This coffee house is really a house, and the rooms have tables for laptops and cozy chairs for naps. Sadly, the snow falls and the temperatures have plummeted and we cannot enjoy the deck for porching and coffee.
Recess seems to get more and more popular every time I come back to visit. Coffee is is still fantastic as always, and the place manages to feel like a hole in the wall hangout while being a Wescott staple. The staff have always been friendly. Try a Mocha Breve with banana shot or a peanut butter hot chocolate if coffee isn't your thing.
