Right now they are running the paleo exhibit where you can see a t-rex skeleton, along with a Triceratops, and others. They also have skulls of many prehuman primates. If you're looking for the missing link, you'll find it there. I can't say enough about how cool this exhibit is. (albeit smallish)
This is a great place to let your kids run around (supervised of course), especially in the winter when it's hard to spend time outside. They have tons of interactive exhibits and kids of all ages can have a great time.
For the little ones, there is a large play structure that spans the whole height of the building where the kids can crawl around, shoot plastic balls at targets, climb stairs and towers, and go down slides. There is a smaller play area for the smaller kids where you can build with giant legos.
My granddaughters love coming here, so this was a fun trip from the start. I always like hands on museums like this. So, of course it was a great time for us together. The MOST would have gotten 5 stars, but some of the displays were not working. Maintenance needs to be caught up!
In the main exhibit hall, there are caves and archaeology digs where you can use a brush to uncover fossils. There are exhibits pertaining to the human body, like a brain you can walk under and a nose you could probably fit your whole head into (although I haven't tried).
The upstairs has an aviation section, as well as an exhibit dedicated to Syracuse. It's fun to let our 2 year old loose and encourage her to interact with all the exhibits. She love the place and always asks to go to the science museum.
There are some pretty cool things to see and do at this museum. The toothpick museum on the upper level was probably my favourite thing to see. Definitely a good place to bring kids and to go as a family.
What an exceptional museum! My child had a grand time. There was so much to explore, and the hands on apporch to science and technology was greatly appreciated. My son really loved being able to climb and play while learning. I would reccommend this museum to anyone with children looking to have a good time while learning.
Such a magical land of discovery, covering a huge variety of hands on science. Friendly staff that had no problem answering a billion questions and just so much of everything. Highly recommended!
