The Landmark is a 1920's style grand theater that has been partially restored. Inside it still has a great deal of charm about it. The backstage area was redone to allow larger productions to be shown like Wicked and was where the new Broadway turing company of the Lion King chose to prepare all its sets and rehearsals at. Unfortunately, the seating in the theater is still designed for people of the 1920's too. Seats are narrow and rows are crowed. If you are over 5 ft six don't expect much room for your knees and feet. If can, leave your coat in your car too as there's no room for it and you in your seat.
Beautiful historic theatre that will have you in awe the moment you step inside. I went there to witness the amazing production of Lion King recently. The only complaint I have are the seats. Brace yourself because they are slippery and not comfortable after you sit for a little while. Other than that, beautiful theatre. Use the bathrooms downstairs, they aren’t crowded because people forget they exist. Plus extra beauty down there.
No leg room in seats, horrible parking, no good restaurants near it, ugly inside. Even the big chandelier in the theater is missing pieces. The stanley in Utica is much nicer. I wish big events like the lion king and wicked would go there. Much better venue.
It was a wonderful show. The building is old and elegant, but a terrible venue for 21st century people. Too cramped. Very uncomfortable. Restroom facilities are inadequate.
We brought 100 Middle and High school students here to see Wicked! The staff was at great at times and at other times fairly intolerant of the group and not very sensitive the challenges that come with managing a group/trip of this nature. The show was amazing and so was the building. The seats are VERY narrow. We were in the balcony and we had a student that was afraid of the height and could not sit in the seat she purchased. The WONDERFUL USHERS helped us get seated AND accommodated this student and a chaperone with two seats in the orchestra on the ground level! Bravo! One of our bigger chaperones was also able to sit in a different seat to help make them a little more comfortable. Overall a great experience!
